Jackson Mac - Looking Ahead EP
Genre - blending masterclass from Jackson Mac who joins the Deep Phase squad with a 3 track EP "Looking Ahead", a reflection of the underground.
Starting off with 'Dinamica' which solely reflects upon the track name, on a mixture of minimal/deep tech & progressive house. Solid drums with an atmospheric sense and dub chords take the minimal edge off while creating a progression over time, leading to a cinematic-like break and drop followed by trippy-like synths. This is proper warm-up material.
'Looking Ahead' is next and quite so, the grooviest of the EP. Flowing in the minimal/deep tech realm once again but with a blend of house and dub, Jackson has put together a very vibey groove. The pads and chords blend in harmonically and with a bassline as such, crowd control and blending seem inevitable. Distant echoed & delayed vocals add to the cinematic essence.
Finally, the last track is a dubbed-out heavy-hitting house with some techno elements. A solid drumline is followed by an abrupt yet so harmonically entry of a pad which captivates your senses from the get-go. The epitome of daydreaming in a soundscape. Minimal on the progression but maximal on the essence. 'Other lives' seems like the most appropriate way to close your set.
A commonality among his tracks in genre-blending techniques, his glitched & spacey breaks, and the solid reoccurring use of edited vocals.
